The Oropesa Project was created with the aim of positioning itself as a reference in sustainable tin extraction in Europe, responding to the growing need for raw materials key to industry and energy transition. Its development is supported by over a decade of geological and technical studies that have made it possible to design a solid, efficient operation oriented towards long-term safety.
It is located in the municipality of Fuente Obejuna, in the Guadiato Valley, north of the province of Córdoba, within the Alto Guadiato region, in the Sierra Morena area.
From its inception, the project integrates modern and responsible mining criteria, prioritizing the reduction of environmental impact, efficient use of resources and progressive restoration of the environment. At the same time, it is committed to generating value in the territory, promoting skilled employment and fostering a close, transparent and lasting relationship with the local community.
Tin is an essential resource for the functioning of the modern and digital economy. Although not always visible, it plays a key role in the manufacture of electronic devices, energy infrastructure and communication systems, acting as an essential element to ensure safe, efficient and lasting connections.
Its use is especially relevant in electronic soldering —the basis of virtually all technological equipment— as well as in strategic sectors such as automotive, renewable energies and telecommunications. Furthermore, its scarce substitutability in critical applications reinforces its value as a fundamental raw material for industrial development.
